2 bad incidents in a day

First Incident:

I wonder if the management has a bit of compassion, I felt so bad when I heard that they have decided to terminate one of my colleague Eduardo, who has been having a very hard time for the past months. He was on unpaid leave for almost 2 months, to take care of her wife in Penang General Hospital who had a bypass surgery, was re-admitted into ICU for water in the lungs and just recently, had to go through another brain surgery for a blood clot in her brain. Just imagine, if any of your family member have to go through the above unpredicted incident, would you still be able to work? Unfortunately, the management thinks that he is not productive at all & decided to terminate his contract due to bad performance. *sigh* Is this the way to treat the unlucky staffs?

According to the doctors, it would take months for his wife to go through a very slow recovery due to the 2 major surgeries. Both husband and wife were telemarketers selling membership cards to earn a living. Since, the wife is unable to work at the moment, husband got terminated ... no card sales = no income. I feel so sorry to them when I heard about this. Anita tried many ways to beg for him & convince the management, as much as possible, just to maintain his job for the time being, but nothing can be done, management's decision is the last decision. What the heck! Even my mum cried when I told her the story this evening, my mum doesn't know Eduardo at all, but she felt so bad when this kind of thing happen to him & his family. Why can't the management have some kind of sympathy for their staffs?

As a token of sympathise, we in MARCOM department decided to contribute a small fund for him. Nothing much we can do but just a little kindness to lessen his burden for now.

A little message for all PH staffs who read my blog: Your contribution is very much appreciated, we do not wish to impose any obligations here. No matter how small is your donation, it would definitely help your unlucky colleague (opss .. should be ex-colleague). Please help ...

Second Incident:

Sometimes I do not mind to contribute more to the company, sacrifice more time on work. But what we have done doesn't seem to be appreciated at all.

Nora was on sick leave on Friday, and she is still feeling unwell at work these 2 days. The point here is ... both Anita & Nora ARE WORKING even though they're sick! I feel glad to have them as my close partners at work as they know their jobs well. However, we got 'shoot' by the 'highest authority' yesterday morning just because Nora was on ONE DAY sick leave last week. She has got a very unreasonable email from him, with a super unreasonable statement telling off Nora sarcastically that "You should not make it that just because you were sick, all works stopped!" Excuse me? Does that mean we cannot take MC even we're sick and we have to work for the company even we're resting on our bed?

Why does he has to do this to us? Isn't that unfair to us? We work more for him, he never appreciate. Just one day sick leave, we got 'shoot'! Tell me about it ...
