He said the new price for petrol is RM2.70 a litre, effective midnight tonight. The price goes up by 78sen from the current RM1.92, a hike of 40%.
Abdullah also announced that the price of diesel would be increased by RM1 from RM1.58 to RM2.58.
He also said that Tenaga Nasional Bhd would be raising electricity rates by 18% for homes and 26% for business users.
The announcements are part of the new fuel subsidy plan --- BULLSHIT!

I think by now, everyone knew what happened. The fuel has increase by RM0.78, it's TM2.70 per liter now! Along my way to the carpark to pick up my car today, colleagues were telling me to fuel up my tank by 12 midnight, I just smiled & nodded my head. The government has already decided to increase the petrol price, it's already the fact & what can we do? Even if you fuel up your tank today, what about tomorrow? the day after tomorrow? Will that tank of petrol last forever? Anyway, when I got up to my car before I started my engine, I still checked my petrol tank, it's damn FULL, dad just pumped it up for me yesterday ... how lucky am I *wink*
I don't know about other areas, but there was a massive jam along the Penampang Road the entire evening, cars lined up at the petrol station for fuel. My dad was sitting at one of the coffee shop at the road side & witnessed the real situation of the immediate consequences of this time petrol hike. I've never seen such thing happen in my life before, all sort of cars came out in droves tonight, heading to any petrol station you could find in town. Obviously, these peoples are rushing like mad for the last drop of cheap fuel! The issue here is, is that worth to join this stupid crowd to line up for the petrol fuel at the middle of the night? Put it this way, after you fuel up your tank to the max, you're stuck at the petrol station for hours before you can get home. Does that full tank of petrol worth the time & energy involved here? Even my 16-year old niece can think it this way, why can't those people think logically?
Everything is increasing! The petrol price increase today, at the same time TNB also announced a massive raise! I believe many other stuffs around us gonna have a super big hike very soon in the near future. BUT ... OUR SALARY IS NOT INCREASING AT ALL! How fair is our government? You'll know!
Malaysia is a surplus oil producing nation, why are we paying RM2.70 per litre today? There's no reason why we cannot maintain as low as what Brunei is doing, if I'm not mistaken, their prices have been pretty low since many years ago.
Basically, there’s no logic to this if the government sincerely heed the needs of our people in Malaysia. People, please take this into consideration during the next election, which is when? I don't know ... But I'm sure you'll know your choice by now. Wouldn't you want to live harmony & happily under a good leader?
There's no end ... there'll be more & more price increasing issue coming up!
