This year, our ballroom was nicely decorated by our new banquet artists, great job they’ve done. I’ve never seen our ballroom with such a grand & fantastic décor.
The grand entrance was brushed up with red & yellow satin which gives me a very luxurious kind of feeling. For me … I would think, everyone could be showered with lots of fortune & wealth while they walked through this entrance. There were chocolate gold coins on the floor as well, which we can’t really see from the photo.
This was a little ginger decor on every table, look so sophisticated
The programme kick-start with a “Low Sang” dish, which most of the Chinese believes that tossing of the Yee Sang will bring prosperity and goodwill for the year.
Other highlights of the night were:-
• Special violin performance by a 12-year old boy Nicholas Liew who won the 1st Runner Up in the Violin Classical category in Malaysia. He was great … Happened to browse his blog here.
• Special Chinese Zodiac Appearances, where the pig was on stage to handover the 2008 crown to the rat.
• A striking performance by a recording artist Ivan Foo, 1st Runner Up of the Astro Senior Citizens Singing Competition 2007, which successfully caught lots of attention from the floor.
• Special appearance of the “God of Fortune” to spread prosperity and goodwill
Ang pows that containing cash money were hung on the fortune tree, the Emcee would ask a list of questions (which was prepared by us earlier) to encourage the crowd participation to have the opportunity to be on stage and win a chance to pick an ang pow from the money tree.
A few of the audiences got themselves big ang pows consist of RM50 while a lucky lady from the floor won herself a RM200 ang pow at last.
Last night also mark the first time of me wearing Cheong Sam. Although I’m a pure Chinese, but believe it or not, I’ve never wear any Chinese costume before. Thanks to Li Man’s mum for sacrificing her beloved Cheong Sam to me when Anita told me to wear Chinese Costume at the very last minute.
Snapping down my memorable China doll look:-
I always think that fat girl like me will never have a chance to wear Cheong Sam, it wouldn’t look nice on me. Surprisingly, it was ok, at least I do not look too fat on this light colour Cheong Sam. ^_^
