Happy Birthday to my little precious Adrian

To my dearest baby Adrian,

This is the second letter mummy wrote to you (the first letter was written when you were still in mummy’s stomach). I look forward to the day when you can read all these on your own and start to think how much we loved you!

On this day last year, you greeted this world healthily, with 3.5 weight & 49.5cm length. That was mummy’s most eventful day throughout her life. You were such a wonderful miracle, you brought joy to the family from the day you were born.

Mummy witnessed each of your fabulous milestones & enjoyed it very much.

· your first toothless grin was on 20 October 2010, right after mummy bathed you;

· you burped very loud until everyone could hear in Starbucks;

· you love to be bathed & you love to play with water in the tub;

· you sleep & snores very loud like your Uncle Sumo (Uncle Zul);

· you love it when mummy gazes into your eyes & cradles you tightly in the arm;

· you love Hip Hop & Club Hitz, especially The Jingle Bells by Crazy Frog, you would calm from cranky cry most of the time when we play you this song;

· you surprised us with your first turnover on 9 January 2011;

· your first tooth popped out when you were 6 months old, you had really bad nights during teething and you now have 8 little teeth (4 on top + 4 at the bottom) at this tender age of one;

… there are just too much to list it out! You’re such a wonderful gift to me!

May you always know how loved & special you are. Mummy really hopes that you will grow up to be a gentlemen who gives freely & thinks kindly. Certainly, your life is still unwritten but there is definitely beauty in it, you will have to determine who you are while we will guide you on your journey in the future. I can’t promise you perfection but I promise to give you all the best I could offer.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful, the perfect giggly baby boy! We all at home love you very much!

I wish I have more time to update Adrian's milestone.

Anyway, just a quick one ...

his personality has slowly emerged now, he can be quite a social baby granting broad smiles to everyone he meets. somehow he would hide his face towards my chest when a stranger try to offer a hug.
his abilities of imitating others' activities are high. he coughs whenever my mum coughs; he shows us his tongue after the daddy did so.
he always gesture for my attention by screaming & pretending to cry whenever I put him in his car seat or stroller, I guess he is developing a mind of his own.
he is a little chatterbox now, although I have yet to get a full phrase from him but his "dadada ... yayaya" are good enough to make me laugh.
he has began to understand many simple phrases such as "no" / "cannot" / "bye-bye" / "hug-hug". my mum has been teaching him to understand "ball" from the flash card kind of book. now whenever we ask "where is the ball", he would pass me that little book.
he waves good-bye when he is in the mood.
he dances horizontally whenever I sing him the ABC song.
he started to stand up with support when he was around 8 months old, squads down to grab & pick up objects around 9 months and now he can even stand alone for a couple of seconds......

DO NOT send your kids to Starkids Nursery Playschool

I feel rejoice that I did not continue sending Adrian to Starkids Nursery Playschool few months back but at the same time feel sorry to a friend of mine when I saw her status in FB this morning. Her 11-month old daughter is suffering from food poisoning after one month care under Starkids Nursery Playschool. They fed her daughter rice porridge (not fine enough for a baby) & cube carrot (too big for a baby), eventually her daughter vomited from 6pm 'till the next morning.

These are the residue vomited by the poor little girl.

They even found some green stuffs in it, nursery insisted those are vegetables but in fact the parents found out it's actually color paper kind of thing. This is absolutely intolerable!

Their first impression to me wasn't pleasant at all. I went & picked up Adrian everyday to find him very dirty with awful smell on his body. I started to hesitate whether to continue the day-care service with them or not.

The owner of the nursery (Mr. Chan) has very bad attitude problems, a terrible gentlemen I would say. I remember myself sending Adrian to the nursery every morning (for one week), their gate were widely opened, I was being told by the owner that they normally keep the gate open during that time for every parent's convenient to drop off their children. After one week of observation, I realized it was just an excuse for them, in fact they've never closed nor locked the gate. I found the gate was widely opened even at odd time like 2 to 3 o'clock in the afternoon. When hubby confronted them, the owner told hubby that the place is very safe, his car was in good condition parking at the garage even the gate was not locked, not to mention the kids. We could not accept such a ridiculous explanation, how could he compare his car with our son? My immediate decision was to withdraw Adrian from their care. The owner got very mad at our withdrawn, he even fought with hubby when we tried to explain things to him politely.

I believe many parents have had bad experience with them, I don't get it why they still get their license to operate a nursery / child care. They're definitely not qualified!

This blog needs an update so badly

Hey, this blog is not dead .. well, at least entertaining clips were uploaded to keep this blog running.

I really want to ~~write~~ blog but I don't know where to start again. I've ever promised myself for some consistent updates here on Adrian's milestone achievement & phases of my life. When I looked back at my entries, my last update on Adrian was about 2 months ago, I've failed to write consistently again. Now, I'd love to share but was too overwhelmed with the familiarization of being a working mum, especially I'm taking up a completely new field in my career.

There is so much in my mind now & yet they're not exactly the most recent updates. I wanted to list them down but I've either forgotten what I've planned to write about or lost all the inspiration to write anything after a while.

Well ... I'm still trying!

By the way, Adrian is 9 months old today! He crawls & moves like a little octopus now, will try to write an update on him soon ... I mean real soon! Stay tune ...

Some of you probably have known her for quite some time. I came across one of her clip last year but were not really paying attention. Until today, a friend of mine uploaded her acoustic version of "Just the way you are" and finally got my attention!

A pretty female pop singer from Seoul, South Korea, her fame instantly rose sometimes around April last year when she used her iPhone, with available setting & her beautiful vocal, to sing /play Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" & Lady Gaga's "Pokerface". Not just Korean, YouTube & Twitter has brought her to the international fame. Her appearance was loved by YouTube fans internationally.

Her much awaited first EP was released on 27 May 2010 ...

The Stages

So, this is so true especially the "comfortable stage". Every relationship goes through all these stages, no matter what and I truly feel it while I was watching the clip.

Come to think of it, if every couple could go through the tolerate part, there won't be unhappy break ups. How each stage develops eventually depends on each individual. Apologies are important in every relationship, the word 'sorry' could probably change your life.

Motherhood is a tough 24-hour job! No pay, no day off and sometimes it is unappreciated, but yet resignation is impossible.

A mother is a woman who created to bring love, joy, happiness and caring into his world.

A mother's work is never done.

Happy Mother's Day to my beloved Mummy a.k.a Oma (I started to call her in that way after all the Korean drama fever)! Mum, I finally know how tough a mother has to be ... thanks for all your hard sweat contribution to me all these years, even until now!

I can’t wait until my little tiger is old enough to secretly make me a handmade Mothers’ Day card!

It was my first Mothers’ Day! I was 5-months pregnant last Mothers’ Day & I celebrated it as a ‘half mummy’ with my mum because I haven’t earned enough point to become a real mum yet. This year I celebrated it as a new mummy, I was way too excited about it. And I finally feel like a mum!

There is a saying where you're not earned being a mum until you have spent those late nights feeding your baby, getting spit up, changing the smelly diapers, dealing with his teething tantrums & rocking a baby that just won’t fall asleep whole night long. Though it’s tough but I’ve loved every minute of it and absolutely overjoyed about it.

Today … I’m not only celebrating Mothers’ Day, I’m celebrating it as I’ve lived through 8 months joining the mummy club!

We did not really do anything fancy, hubby booked 4 rooms at Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resorts and we enjoyed the whole weekend there with the rest of the family members (6 mummies altogether). That’s the greatest & my most favorable moment spending time together with my family and I consider that as the best thing in life.

My Birthday & My Gifts

So I did not get what I wanted from My Wish List , I got this from Denise, an advance gift from her ... the perfect gift ...

An Esprit gift card worth RM100

Gift card / certificate is definitely the best gift ever, an excellent idea I'd say. I now have 101 reasons for myself to shop in Esprit!

The gift card was accompanied by a can of baked beans ... because I have been starving myself with baked beans almost every lunch. She called me baked beans!

I laughed out loud the minute I saw this with the baked beans ...

Also, greeted by the Angry Bird from hubby & a piece of lovely cake from mum on my birthday!

Colleagues brought me out for a birthday lunch at City Mall yesterday. I consider myself lucky to have them as my colleagues, they are a bunch of kind people! At least I have a birthday lunch on my actual day!

Looking forward to another round of celebration at Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort coming 7 May.

p/s: Parents & hubby promised to buy me Coach during our trip to KL end of May as my belated gifts ... that means I'll get 2 Coach in May! ^_^

My Wish List ...

It's my favorite month of the year because it's my birthday month. Normally, I dislike people ask what do I want for my birthday, I'm the kind of girl who loves surprises. I'd wait for my best romance to appear on that special day, hoping that I would get some out-of-ordinary gifts.

As my age approached 30, that kind of romance wish gradually fade out. I don't hope for that kind of surprise anymore. They tend to disappoint me, I would rather having a 'no romance' than a 'bad romance'.

So this year ... I came up with a wish list...

If I get these, I'd be happy because I get what I really want.
If I don't get these & get some other surprises, I'd be extra happy.

The good old days ...

Facebook (FB) is useful. Mum & I were link with an ex-staff of Noble Access (we used to own a handphone shop at Api-Api about 14 years ago) recently. Time flies ... she was a pretty Kadazan girl who speaks good Mandarin and now she is a mother of 2 residing in Johor.

Yesterday she browsed all my pictures in FB and commented 'hot mum' in one of the picture I uploaded during my good old times, long before I join the mummy club...

With her new comment, this old pic of mine popped up in the most recent news feed. My colleagues were so surprise to see my so called 'hot look' & wonder why I gained so much weight.

"Wow ... you WERE so slim & sexy that time! "

"Yes ... I WAS slim & sexy. Those were the days!"

Yea ... that is a stage that every mummy has to go through, tell me about it! And all mummies did the same like me, trying many ways & do not mind spending money on re-shaping their bodies.

This is my second week taking TRA (The Right Approach) program. It is a balanced, multifaceted approach to weight loss. Combining some supplements + eating right + minimum amount of exercise (even shopping can burn fats) into one program. Let's see what I'll get after 3 months ... will I get back that 'hot look' back in 2008?

So yesterday I took one day off from work & pampered myself in the saloon. Told my hair stylist I need an 'overhaul', it's time to have a fresh look, I'm bored with my long messy hair. After a short discussion & with the reference of the sample I showed him ......

The little tiger loves Club Hitz

Months ago, I used to switch in Hitz FM on Sunday nights for all these club hitz, my 3-month old boy would stay calm & listen to the hitz quietly. So I guess he loves club hitz!

Last Sunday, I had difficulties calming the cranky tiger. After several attempts of different ways to cool him down, I finally switched into these club hitz again. The songs calm him immediately, he smiled & listened!

Conclusion, he has inherited this part of interest from the both of us!

Creating a little foodie

We're finally reaching the biggest milestone -- Introducing solid food, laying his foundation for healthy eating habits. As I venture into the world of baby food making, I gradually find interest in cooking & pureeing baby food. Cooking fruits (baby food puree) is really a good idea, it breaks them down & enable easier digestion in his little immature tummy. I love how quick and easy it is to make these fruits recipes, even adults would love the natural taste of it.

Pureeing homemade baby food is very fun & simple, it takes less time to puree baby food than cooking porridge for them. Cook (steam / boil / bake) the food (any fruits / vegetables or even meat at a later stage), cool it down, toss it into a blender and puree it away.

I started off with Bananas 2 weeks ago & pureed Apple this week for my little one. The apple puree taste great, it tasted exactly like the fillings of McDonald's Apple Pie!

Tips & Recipes

Banana Puree
Bananas are another great first food for your baby. Research indicates that bananas and their mucosal properties actually help coat the tummy and help aid in digestion. Bananas are sweet, which may help baby more readily accept the first food experience.

Vitamins: A, C & Folate
Minerals: Potassium, Phosphorus, Selenium, Magnesium, Calcium

Peel a ripe banana (do not cook)
Place banana in a blender & add in formula / breast milk to puree it

Apple Puree
Apples are a great choice for one of an infant's first food. They are easy to prepare, easy to digest and are full of nutrients. They contain 2 types of fiber namely insoluble fiber & soluble fiber. Both help maintain bowel regularity. "An Apple a Day" as the old saying would "keeps doctor away"! it's truly a wonder fruit!

Vitamins: A, C, E & Folate
Minerals: Potassium / calcium / Phosphorus / Magnesium / Selenium & a small amount of iron / manganese / copper / zinc

Peel & cut apple into slices / chunks
Place slices or chucks into a plate & steam until tender
Mash or blend steamed apple to achieve a smooth applesauce consistency. Add in the reserved water as necessary to achieve a smooth & thin puree

The puree are nicely placed in the freezer for a 10-day consumption ... ^_^

Seeing Adrian rolling over & over is definitely an exciting milestone that amused me, his neck & arm get stronger day-by-day, allows him to practice rolling over toward one side & another easily & causing me nerve-racking during his changing time especially diaper changes.

As he continues to gain new skills while exploring his new environment, he has finally moved on to sitting unsupported few days ago.

Teething is another painful milestone for him. 2 of his bottom middle teeth popped up about two weeks ago and the top 2 middle ones are squeezing out, I could feel it when I applied teething gel for him yesterday. The transition from the gummy grin to a mouthful of sparkling teeth is tough for my little one, he seems to struggle and experience lots of discomfort especially at night. He drools a lot, bites everything he grabs (including his little hands) and refused to drink/eat.

We woke up together with him from 2am until 4am ... I feel his pain!

Updates after months ...

I'm not sure how many people would actually read my blog or constantly click in for an update. I'm on totally off-work mode today, after 2 months, a working Saturday is still very unusual for me. So today ... I've decided to leave everything behind & do some blogging before this blog go rusted with cockroaches crawling over.

This month was the 2nd month at work and finger cross I'll pass my probation next month. I started off this job without any knowledge, it was tough because I don't know what exactly I was doing everyday. Now, I'm pretty much familiar with the everyday routine here, be it admin or shipping, not fully but partly. I consider myself doing well after 2 months, at least I don't have to scratch my head hard, I know who to turn to when a question is raised.

There were 2 groups of hoteliers visited me in the office, performed their sales call as usual. The conversations brought my memories back, I miss hotels! From a hotelier to a mariner, I hope what I'm doing now are all worthwhile giving up my dream job. My hope are all on my precious Adrian now!

Adrian has very much improved from my last blog about his development, he can now turn over quickly & freely within seconds. It's extremely crucial to keep an eye on him at all time now. He uses all his senses to explore the world now and puts everything he grabs into his mouth!

My Work, My Office

It's been really busy weeks, trying to accommodate with my new job, a totally new & unfamiliar industry to me -- Shipping Agencies. I didn't expect myself getting this job before CNY, wasn't really ready for it but couldn't afford to miss any good opportunity at the moment. So I reported duty on Monday, 10 January 2011 so that Kristine has adequate time to do her handover to me.

My new boss & colleagues are good, they're friendly & helpful, so far I don't see much politics here. A very traditional "Chinaman" company, not too much on rules & regulations, I somehow enjoy the freedom and flexibility here. Meetings are not as tense as the hotel industry, we can even have our breakfast & tea together with MD in the conference room. Imagine if we do that in PH, KHS would have killed us.

Love the environment of the office, I feel great working here.

There's always pros & cons ... The flexibility in the company restricted my work flow in some way. There's no proper handover notes from Kristine, the improper way of 'hand-over' somehow confused me on the first few days, I had to spend some time to figure out & digest everything at the end of everyday.

Anyhow, I miss the hotel and all the MARCOM jobs!

4 Months Old

Adrian officially enters the 4th month of birth today and he surprised us with his first turnover! We were so excited to see his turn. Nothing worth better than witnessing your own son reaching all the milestones step-by-step ... this is certainly amazing and I guess it's the moment that every parents wouldn't want to miss! I'm glad that this happened when all of us are around to witness.

Suffers

For the last 2 weeks, my left patella (kneecap) had a severe pain everytime when I kneel / squad down, especially when I walk up & down the staircases with Adrian. My knee buckles can no longer support my weight when I'm carrying Adrian, I could even hear the cracking sounds during movements. It caused discomfort to me even when I'm sleeping as I can hardly bend or straighten my knee.

Finally dragged myself to the doctor on Wednesday.

The ultrasound instrument showed that my patella was stuck with water and was 'migrated' (out of alignment). The treatment was tough to me. Doctor sucked out the water from my knee with a needle. I was pretty nervous that time, wished mum or hubby was next to me to ease my discomfort. All by myself, I bear the pain throughout the entire process and was later sent to the Physiotherapist for some simple exercises on relocated the kneecap back to its original position, which I have to continuously doing it for the next 2 weeks before my first review. According to the therapist, these exercises will help strengthen the muscles in my thigh so that my kneecap stays aligned. Lastly, I was sent to the X-rays to see how the kneecap fits in its groove.

I've suffered too much throughout these 2 years. I suffered from severe morning sickness during the first 3 months of pregnancy; interrupted sleeps throughout the whole 9-months; had buttock pain during the last 1 month of pregnancy. And now ... after 4 months of birth, I've got this patella problem.

I felt my body is still weak even after 4 months of birth! I seriously salute those mothers who actually got the guts to have the second child ... I surrender!

to all my families & friends, my sincere gratitude to everyone who walked passed my life throughout the year.

2010 has been an incredible and a fruitful year to me!

I officially joined the "Mrs. Club" in January and joined the "Mummy Club" in September. I'm so grateful all these happened in just one year! Time passed extremely fast especially when everyone is looking forward to welcome a new little miracle last year.

I welcomed the brand new year of 2011, updating my Facebook status. It was my first time doing the New Year countdown in my room accompanied by my laptop and live show from Taipei. Adrian slept through the year from 2010 to 2011, despite of all the fireworks outside the house. He had his first milk of the year at 5am this morning and his first smile of the year at 9:50am while he woke up from a good night sleep! ^_^

Adrian's Update

My little prince has grown up tremendously, never realize time passes to fast, he is already 16-week old today.

he began to exhibit an obvious recognition of people at home, he can actually sort out who's who in his life. I can basically conclude him as a friendly baby and I think he inherited both our PR skills as he smiles at anyone who coo or talk to him, including strangers;
he loves to make eye contact with me, he moves his arms and legs in excitement and even start gurgling & talking to me when I look back into his eyes;
his hip & knee joints are becoming more flexible nowadays, his kicks are relatively getting stronger day-by-day;
he started to discover his hands and very much fascinated with them. He loves to bring both hands together, inspecting them from all sides by opening & shutting his fingers, carefully watching each finger as it moves. Just about week ago, he started to put them in his mouth and suck his fingers like eating a yummy drumstick;
he is now able to lift his head and hold it up for a longer time, he can even sit with support, hold & turn his head steadily;
at last, his sleeping patterns started to settle down couple of weeks ago. He can now sleep for a 4-hour stretch through the night (sometimes even 6-hour when he's tired) and wakes for an occasional feeding every 3 to 4 hours;
he loves to stare at his reflection in the mirror, when he realizes himself in the mirror, he'll show his delight with an adorable toothless grin;
his gurgles are going strong this week, he is making all sorts of consonant sounds like "oooohhh ... ahhhh ... grrrrr ...", no particular meaning but we basically trying to make up some assumptions on our own. Just like the other day, he was looking into my eyes, gurgling to me at 12:3o midnight, as if he was trying to tell me a story, so cute!

This video was up in Facebook a couple of weeks ago, where Adrian was dancing together with the daddy. He loves Crazy Frog's "Jingle Bell" very much, I can even calm him from crying with this song.

Majlis Bergunting (Hair Cutting Ceremony) for Adrian

This post is a little bit late, but it's finally up as promised!

I don't actually know much about this tradition, according to hubby and my in-laws, this is a part of the Malay culture symbolizes the end of a mother's 40 day confinement after childbirth and its a right of passage for the baby. While the hair cutting shall be a fresh start in life I guess. I presume this tradition should be similar to our baby full moon or baby shower kind of ceremony.

Most of the Malay do this right after the 40 days of confinement but our circumstances did not allow us to do that as my in-laws were in Mecca performing their Haji-ship. So the family decided to do it on Saturday, 4 December 2010, which was about 2 weeks ago. Nothing really significant with the date, but it was just a convenient date for all the family members to attend.

The ceremony was a success one, it started with a prayer and it went on smoothly with all the elderly cutting a little bit of his hair. His hair was then kept in a young coconut and later thrown in the ocean by his grandfather.

Before the ceremony, I've got zero knowledge on what it's gonna happen and what they gonna do on Adrian. Though I was told that not all his hair is cut, but I was kind of worried that he would become a little monk after that. It was just my stupid thought, Adrian was absolutely safe in the daddy's protected arm on that day, everyone was guided which part of his hair to cut. Even the eldest man cut it out of harm's way with his shaking hands and blurred vision. Anyway, the entire ceremony was a good one, it had been a great experience for me, I've learnt something new again.

On this day last year, you & I were in our plain white costume, you uttered the marriage vow in one breathe in front of the imam and our family members, we signed the paper and exchanged our rings. You and I became husband & wife!

I can’t believe how fast this one year went by. We have our trials and struggles just like everybody else, but we have learnt to look past the imperfect parts and noticed the great parts, at the same time working on our imperfections. A year has passed and we are celebrating our first anniversary together with our son today. We’ve gone through various experiences together this year, though the process are pretty tough but it’s all good, I would describe those as sweet challenges.

you’re never a romantic or lovey-dovey kind of hubby that gives me lots of surprise everyday;

you never shower me with lots of gifts even on special occasions;

you do not simply say that 3 ‘magic words’ to make me happy all the time.

BUT

you surprise me unknowingly without showing off to others;

you showered me with lots of loves & jokes everyday, I love the way you have me in your mind every minute & second;

your occasionally cuddle warm my heart, it symbolizes all your love to me.

I know I’m somehow a demanding & fussy wife, I always do. Thanks for being there and bear with me all the time!

We had our advance celebration on Sunday. No candle light dinner, no surprise gifts, no sweet talks. It was just a sweet outing at One Borneo and followed up with a simple dinner, just the 3 of us...

Our anniversary is a time to look back at the good times and a time to look ahead to live our dreams together. I’m perfectly blessed when you came into my life, my life with you is never boring!

3-months

Prince Adrian is officially 3 months old today!

p/s: Adrian went through his first plane ride (to Sandakan) smoothly the other day. In fact, he slept through the entire journey without hectic. I know we are truly blessed! I have yet to arrange all the photos taken during the ceremony, I'll try to have a post on that memorable ceremony in time to come.

p/p/s: I've got an infection on my right eye on Monday night, the virus could be from my contact lenses. Apparently, I did not wash my hand properly when I was in Sandakan, the washroom there isn't as convenient as my home and I was a bit careless. Anyway, doctor gave me antibiotic eye drop and warned me to rest more. So, I guess I won't blog until I have my eye recovered.

Manicure & Pedicure for the Prince

I normally cut his nail when he fall into deep sleep on his "Lamborghini" (i.e. his rocker), the vibration of the rocker soothe him well, he doesn't wake up, no matter how I move him.

I got really upset everytime when our friends & relatives said Adrian looks 100% like the daddy! Hello? Are you blind or what? He is a combination of daddy & mummy!

Sleeping Position

Adrian had been sleeping with his face up, facing the ceiling, which I believe is the most common sleeping position for most babies. I know I have to guide him with various different positions to get a good shape for his head. However, side positioning is tricky because I need to ensure that he won't roll over onto his tummy & cover his face. I've tried many ways to position him on his left & right but he doesn't seem to favour the side positioning (he roll back to the original position after a while).

Today, I tried my best to position him again. I placed a big bolster behind him, against the side of the crib and place 3 little bolsters in front of him to keep him from rolling back over, like this ...

He doesn't like it that way! He slightly moved himself & tried to kick away the bolsters in front of him, He failed! He screamed and finally got really cranky with his pathetic sob. I had no choice but to remove all the big & small bolsters so that he can stretch himself freely.

He continued to cry & cry & cry until I carried him and he took a little catnap being held in my arms before he got cranky again. I know it's bad to pamper him in that way but he wakes up whenever I put him down. He was really cranky the entire afternoon, that should be a revenge to me for putting him into the side positions that he dislike the most.

Finally, he ended up in his favourite rocker (I called it his Lamborghini but hubby said it's just a Kancil). With the vibration from the rocker and slight swing, he slept peacefully & soundly.

And there goes my whole afternoon, pampering him!

Adrian is 2 months old today!

I almost forgot about his monthly vaccine today until my mum mentioned about his next check-up. I'm such a forgetful and careless mummy ... hmmm ... wonders if Ginko could help! Anyway, on-time sending him to the jab on his 'drumstick'!

The chaotic first 2 months are over and I can roughly predict his everyday schedule and getting tuned into his needs right now. I'm amazed with how quickly he changes during the first 2 months, certainly fascinated seeing his achievement on those exciting milestones.

he has this nature way to respond to anyone who start a face-to-face interaction with him. I enjoy the chance to gaze into his eyes every time when I cradle him in my arms, he does respond and follows instructions;
he now has enough control to hold her head up shakily when I carry him on my shoulder;
he can finish as much as 6 oz of milk right now and fallen asleep halfway through the feed;
he burps really loud, the daddy said it could really embarrass us when he does this in the public;
some of his unique features attract us and becomes the hot topic in the family (his pointed mouth and his horn-shape hair style that makes him a little trojan);
we normally fill the room with musics and dance with him when he is cranky, he loves that ... and and and ... hair dryer can amazingly calm him down in seconds;
he can basically bond with anyone at home (including our maid) and he's a big bully to the mummy *poor me*!
he loves to be carried + loves to be pampered + loves to be bathed + loves the taste of medicines (due to the sweetness) + loves to kick + loves his baby rocker + loves staring at the lights;
he hates drinking plain water + hates being left alone or unattended in the crib (even just for a minute) + hates to be carried in the sarong carrier.

Sometime around last year I blogged about kids nowadays vs. kids in those days, when I was still single. When I was reading it again, my perception towards this post is different by now (as a mother). I found it funny and hilarious that time but not now anymore.

I started to worry how should I educate Adrian, what should I do to make him a super kid now and a perfect man in the future? These are all the questions lingered in my mind ever since he was born.

The last paragraph of the post reads:-

While Adrian was away from LiangPoPo's house

Adrian was staying in Taman Rindu (Parents-in-laws' house) for 2 nights, before the grandparents depart for their haji trip. Adrian spent some good time with both of them!

Despite all the dogs barking and piling sounds nearby the house, Adrian slept soundly and peacefully. As a mother, I'm proud to say that he's perfectly well-trained to sleep under a noisy environment, even with people singing & shouting around him. We have no problem with our chattings, TV & radio sounds while he's sleeping, that really ease us a lot!

He woke up every 2 hours for milk at night, without fail, like an alarm clock. But I'm glad that he returned to his sleep right after the feed. MIL took over the feeding task at 6am onwards, hubby & I had some peaceful nap for 2 hours while my MIL looked after him. We even left him alone with my parents-in-laws while I went for my medical check-up. He seems alright with anyone carrying him.

Do not trust our government!

Adrian was sick, he cried badly at 4am on Monday morning, totally had no clue on his discomfort ... we had no choice but to bring him to the government hospital (Likas Hospital) at the wee hours, it was bad ... really bad!

Was told that he has a little bit colic, which is a normal case for all babies. It was 6:30am, we were told to wait until the pharmacy opens at 8am! Tell me about it, Adrian wasn't feeling well, seriously in need of the medicine and a good rest. What is the point when we get to see the doctor but couldn't get the right treatment (medicine) on time? Again, we had no choice but to send Adrian home first and back for the medicine later.

What really pissed me off was the wrong medicine given! Adrian was fed the fever medicine while he doesn't have any fever at all. At last, we had to send him to the private clinic to get the right treatment!

So, tell me how good is the government services?!

Adrian's 5th week

He's 5-week old!

It's been a week since Sam Gu left while I have to handle Adrian all by my own. I had a few tough nights with him when he wakes up at the wee hours of the night, which I'm slowly adapting to it after a week. The toughest record so far was the night where he experienced the worst nose blocking, both hubby & I stayed up from 1:30am until 8am. That shall be his first official visit to the doctor for catching a flu.

Things are getting better and I'm catching up in the caring of an infant. I'm proud that I can actually bath him all by my own, without the help from anyone, never thought that I could make it, but yes, I made it! My first bath with him was on 10.10.10 (Sunday), a unique date to remember!

His neck muscles are getting stronger, he can hold his head up for a short period and turn it from side to side. He started to respond to special sound by turning his head left & right. We're all amazed by his development week-by-week and I'm looking forward to witness & blog about every milestone he meets in the future.

I miss playing with him

I miss the little furry evil so much!

He was being left out at home since Adrian's arrival to this house. Due to hygiene problem, he wasn't allow to go near the little baby at home, he realised the changes, he realised that he's no longer the first priority at home right now!

he can't move freely at home anymore ...
he is not allowed to enter my room ...
he can't watch TV together with us on the sofa anymore ...
he is jailed in a room when Adrian stays in the living room during day time ...
he is looking forward for anyone of us to hold him, pamper him (even just for a little while) ...
he needs love!

I miss him ... I really miss those days that I can hold him in my arms & watch TV together. Hubby said he is my abundant son now while my FIL said he is 2nd class citizen at home now!

I wish time could tick faster, Adrian shall grow faster & be able to play with him!

Taking care of an infant

"Dear Adrian, mummy loves you!"

No doubt, this is a very exciting time, it's filled with various emotions and indescribable feelings.

3 weeks has passed, while Baby Adrian is adjusting to this new world, I'm also adjusting to a whole new life with less sleep. He sleeps in short naps, wakes up every 2 to 3 hours for feeds and spends some time rolling his eyes before drifting off to his nap again. At times, he is pretty cranky when he needs a nappy change or rushing for a feed, this is the only way he communicates his hunger and discomfort with me. He wants to be carried and feel the security most of the time, especially when he can't sleep at night. I normally hold him in my arms until he fall deeply asleep, I know I shouldn't spoil him but this is the only way to soothe him to the bed. In fact, I think young babies should be completely spoil-proof, he needs all the care and attention at this stage. Thus, I should ignore all the advice who think babies need to learn independence. I agree that he should learn independence but not at this early stage.

My entire family is so busy with the arrival of Prince Adrian, and was all amused by every single movement of him. He usually start of with an 'ah' when he wakes for milk, the second 'ah' is his last warning and he'll then end up with a cranky cry to show his impatient. I love to listen to his 'ah' ... simply lovely!

With so much in my heart and on my mind, I feel overwhelmed by all the new responsibilities. However, I think these are all the sweet challenges of being a parent, I feel warm & great when I hold him in my arms, I can't describe how amazing is this feeling! Having a baby is just so great!

The end of the waiting game on 09.09.10

The little miracle has finally entered our life, baby Adrian greeted the world on 09.09.10 at 9:23am, with 3.5kg weight and 49.5cm length.

On 8 September, before I had my afternoon nap as usual, I told him to enjoy the nap together and he shall come to see the real world after the nap. Apparently, he noted and my wish came true! I woke up at 4pm, my water broke at around 4:15pm. I steadily cleaned myself, then called hubby to come home while I get myself ready for the admission.

I reached KK Specialist Centre at 5pm with no contraction pain yet, the head nurse checked my dilation, it was only 3cm dilated. I was then sent into the ward and waited for the dilation to reach 10cm. My real contraction started at around 7pm, the pain came in every half and hour at first, then slowly increased to 15 minutes, 10 minutes, and then 5 minutes each. The contraction pain was my biggest distraction, plus the air condition system in the room was really bad, I was sweating badly the whole night. I couldn't sleep, the same goes to hubby, who was sitting on the pathetic small sofa besides my bed. I pity him for not able to get a good sleep but I must say that he's lucky as I did not squeeze his hand, like any other wife would do to their husband, to ease my pain, I squeezed the blanket instead.

At 6am on the next morning, I thought my pain has reached to the max and my dilation should reach at least 9cm. However, doctor came to check, another 3cm to reach the target. They finally decided to induce my contraction to speed up the dilation. At 9am, doctor came to broke the remaining of the water in my uterus and directed me to the labor room, and here came the incredibly suffering yet wonderful moment!

Million appreciation to Dr. Sarva, Agnes (the midwife) and a few nurses together with hubby, who were there to give me great support, their encouragement helped a lot. With the midwife's guidance, I pushed a few times for Adrian's head to come lower but I was too weak to push him out. At last, with the help of the vacuum instrument and another 3 pushes, baby Adrian came out and I almost fainted after the whole process of delivery.

Mum later told me that I yelled really badly until the whole floor could hear my terrible scream. Her tears burst out when she heard my awful scream outside the labor room, she couldn't take it at last and hide herself in the washroom until I'm done with all the pushing and screaming.

It was the most eventful day in my life, a great experience I'd say! BRAVO to myself and all the mamas in the world! The entire progress of having a baby, including the 9-month pregnancy to the delivery process isn't easy. To all the gentlemen who are reading this, please treasure your mum and wife!

How I suffered at night while everyone is in their dreamland

I just had a tough night, a very tough night ...

10pm - I was lying on the bed, trying to sleep earlier but I failed. So I woke up & did some reading.

11pm - Put off the magazines, closed my eyes tightly, tried hard to sleep again but my burping was disturbing me! As usual, the gases came up to my chest & pressured my breathe.

1am - Hubby came into the room and ready to sleep but I was still awake! Hubby dozed off like a baby within 10 minutes, I was watching him on my bed, wishing myself could sleep like him. This is the moment I hated most every night! Watching other sleep while you can't sleep is a great torture!

2am - Yes, I was still awake & my burping was the biggest distraction! Decided to get up and do some walking for better digestion (and I thought it could help).

3am - Finally on Facebook updating my status at 3am in the morning! How great!

3:30am - Couldn't believe that I was still burping at this time (my last meal was 9 hours ago). The fishy Salmon smell that I had was so strong, I couldn't hold it and rushed to the washroom. I puked everything out! My dinner was not digested at all!

4am - Finally fall back into my bed and slept with empty stomach and felt better with it even though I was hungry!

So, tell me about it! I really wish to end my preggy journey soonest possible, I'd prefer a sleepless night taking care of my baby than a sleepless night burping & puking in the washroom!

My pre-labor sleepless nights (Week 38)

I had sleepless nights for the past one week, experienced moms told me this is normal, it's a sign of my baby's arrival. My watermelon-look-alike belly is simply too big for me to lie down comfortably now where I can only sleep on my left side whole night long. I tend to burp a lot at night and the gases come up all the way to my chest, pressuring my breathe and at the same time interfering with my sleep, making me tired and cranky.

My false contractions tend to come somewhat more often starting this week, they're infrequent, irregular and it comes in once or twice a day only. Somehow, it subside on their own when I change a sleeping or sitting position. Being a first-time-mom, sometimes they're hard to be distinguished, I can't tell whether it's a contraction or was just a normal stomach upset.

I'm feeling relatively more anxious, wondering when the true labor will start ... Somehow, I'm feeling relax & calm these days, waiting for the little miracle to enter my life, the big day to welcome my precious little one -- Baby Adrian!

Week 35

My tiger boy weight around 2.7kg this week, he is growing bigger and taller. There's limited space for him to move around in my womb, he's unlikely to be doing any somersaults to me anymore. However, he's still kicking me actively everyday (mostly after 2pm in the afternoon 'till midnight).

I can't see his face through the ultrasound instrument today, his head is down (getting ready to come out) and his face is facing downwards (he's shy). As I said, there isn't much room for him to move around, I guess I won't be able to see his face until he's out.

Anyway, I start seeing my gynae every week from now onwards. I shall take precaution and get ready anytime from now. I can't wait to see my little precious one ... I'm looking forward to hold him in my arms, to breastfeed him personally, to do everything together with him! I'm counting the days ...

Wonder Baby

People around me (including my gynae) encourage me to put on some classical musics or even nursery rhythm for my tiger boy, I've tried ... but he gave no response at all. However, he loves dancing & twisting in my belly when I play him some R&B songs.

Kids nowadays are all modern kids. Even during my time, I don't remember myself watching any cartoon except my favourite Doraemon and <<我爱小忌廉>>, and my one & only nursery rhythm was the cassette that my mum played for me during my early stage. I started to watch TVB dramas at the age of 4 or 5? And my idol was 吕方 & Jacky Cheung, even Leslie Cheung was one of my favourite! And ... I never like cartoon since then ...

I'm not sure whether my tiger boy like watching cartoon next time, but I'll definitely play him MTV channel! lolz ...

Be prepared for our night duties

Me: Doctor, he moves a lot at night. Especially last night, he moved from this end to the other end of my belly, at 2 o'clock in the morning.

Dr. Sarva: Congratulations! Then both of you will have a lot of night duties!

Me: *Speechless with a laugh*

Dr. Sarva: Try to play him some classic musics.

Me: Ok.

(But in fact, my tiger boy prefers hip hop musics compared to classical!)

It was a great experience, hubby finally get the chance to witness the 'very active' movement of our little one last night. He went for a drink with friends, and came home around 2am while tiger boy & I were still awake. He was moving from this end to another, all across my belly. I presume this is a protest to the daddy for coming home so late! We had a chat with him, pampered him with musics from the handphone and lastly ended up with a goodnight kiss from his daddy. He slept quietly after that! Interesting huh ... ^_^

I'd consider that as our first night duty, more to come in the future!

Things that I missed most during my pregnancy

Pregnancy is often portrayed as a time of great joy, the attention, the anticipation, and the pleasure of feeling the baby move inside that little space in the belly. However, I believe most mothers suffer the same woes like what I did for the past 7 months.

Persistent peeing is one of the biggest suffer I faced. I miss being able to sleep through the night without having to get up to pee every few hours. At least 3 trips to the washroom each night, and after every pee, it takes at least 15 to 30 minutes for me to roll on the bed for a comfortable position, isn't it irritate? Worse still, after an hour of rolling, just when I've found the best position and was about to fall into deep sleep, I had to pee again! I used to put my head on the pillow and fall asleep within few minutes, but now the 'positioning part' is killing me!

I really really really really miss my pre-pregnancy body and wardrobe. I have to put my eyes away from all my t-shirts, pretty jeans and working suits especially. I used to have different outfit everyday and I've never repeat wearing the same outfit at least in 2 weeks, sometimes even a month. But now I'm only using 5% of my wardrobe where I have to wear the same few maternity outfit every week! I'm sure the 95% of my wardrobe miss me too, I can't wait until I can wear those again! And ... I can't wear my engagement and wedding ring now, my fingers are expanding!

I miss my adorable manicured nails! And I guess I'll have to stop nail polishing until the first birthday of my little tiger. For that, I've stowed away all my nail polish so I won't feel bad about not being able to paint them on my pretty nails.

I'm also missing my independence! I looked so much like a superwoman when I was working in PH, I used to carry large objects, move heavy boxes in the office with my short skirt and heels but now I need help moving large objects, I'm too worried about falling whenever I climb up or down the staircase, walk on slippery areas or even my shower in the bathroom. I need a driver wherever I go as I've stopped driving alone during my 6th months plus or so. I just don't like it as I often need to ask for help doing things that used to be easy. I just miss the freedom that I used to have!

And last but not least ... I miss cold drinks, ABC, mouth-watering ice-blended desserts!

I opened the screen door yesterday and my cat got out and has been missing since then so I was wondering if you are not to busy you could make a poster for me. It has to be A4 and I will photocopy it and put it around my suburb this afternoon.

This is the only photo of her I have she answers to the name Missy and is black and white and about 8 months old. missing on Harper street and my phone number.

I know, but that one is cute. As Missy has quite possibly met any one of several violent ends, it is possible you might get a better cat out of this. If anybody calls and says "I haven't seen your orange cat but I did find a black and white one with its hind legs run over by a car, do you want it?" you can politely decline and save yourself a costly veterinarian bill.

Week 29

Friends were telling me to upload some photos of my preggy look to FB, I chose to upload it to my blog instead.

Done another review today, baby is happily kicking and sucking in my belly. Today marks the first time my parents witnessed their little grandson's growth through the ultrasound. They were certainly amaze! Mum got excited when she heard the heartbeat while dad noticed tiger boy has a big nose!

I'm 71.2kg as at to-date, while tiger boy weight around 1.6kg.

Week 27

I saw my little tiger on the ultrasound today!

He was covering half of his face and pretend to fall asleep while the doctor place the ultrasound instrument on him, but later on started to move around, after I get up from the bed. Overall, I feel perfectly satisfied to see & feel his little head, hands, elbows, legs and even his heartbeat.

My weight has officially raised up to 69.2kg this week, which baby took up 1kg (I presume it's like a head of a broccoli?). Doctor were telling me that my weight will raise for another 6 to 7 kg by the end of the 9th month. I couldn't imagine how big & fat I'd be that time. Gotta start looking up for ways to slim down and I shall start the plan right after my confinement, wait no more!

Anyway, my little tiger is growing into 27th week. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, his little body moves across my belly every time he's awake as if telling me, "Mummy, I'm awake!" I love it at night before we get into the bed, he started to stretch and dance when I put on some musics for him. He does enjoy a few songs from the daddy's handphone by responding with a few kicks.

The second trimester is drawing to a close by this week, as my body gears up for the final lap, I started to feel some new symptoms. My leg muscles started to cramp up every now and then. I walk like a penguin now, it's beyond my control to adjust my walking posture now. My belly feels so tight sometimes, especially when I stretch my body and try to relax on the bed. Anyhow, thumbs up to the soft workout that I learnt last month, the 'bridging' exercise especially, it really helps in reducing backache. I hope my backache wouldn't go so badly as my belly grows bigger & heavier in my coming last trimester.

Spring Cleaning

Some of you might have noticed I'm a bit slow in my blogging these few days ... No, I'm not so much behind yet, I was doing some spring cleaning with my desk, my paper works, which was leave untouched even before my wedding. They're all piling up on my desk, like trash can, slowly becoming a mountain.

TsingTao was so busy jumping up & down while I was tidying up the place, he showed me his inquisitive face while I was flipping papers and doing filings.

The trash can, used to be TsingTao's favourite sleeping spot is now turned into a clean & tidy space, and hereby return it to TsingTao.

Modern Daughter-in-Law

It is a myth that when a son gets married and a new daughter in law arrives in the family, everything changes. Some daughters in law are well trained and well mannered!!!! !. They don't come to change the family, they are there to.......... ..

The new wife was being welcomed at the husband's home in a traditional manner. As expected she gave a speech:

"My dear family, I thank you for welcoming me in my new home and family", she said "Firstly, my being here does not mean that I would want to change your way of life, your routine. No, I will never do that, never in a million years".

"What do you mean my child?" Asked the father in law.

"What I mean dad is (looking at her father in law):

Those who used to wash dishes must carry on washing them.

Those who used to do the laundry must carry on doing it.

Those who cooked shouldn't stop at my account, and Those who used to Clean should continue cleaning".

"Then what are you here for?" Asked the mother in law.

"As for me, my job is to entertain your son!"

I had terrible sleepless nights for the past 2 days in hubby's old house, I miss my bed so badly, even until my tears could come out unknowingly, it's beyond my control. Am I too fragile or what?

Home is just so important for me, a comfortable home especially! Everytime when I'm away from home, I miss my parents + my bed + my cat + my TV + my laptop! It can be every single little thing at home I would miss.

I always have problems when traveling to other places...

I can't bear with unfriendly toilets, I would rather not shower than go naked in a dirty & rusty bathrooms and I'll even hold my urine until the very last minute where I can't stand anymore;
well ... I'm fussy. Yes, I am. I have difficulties in sleeping on stinky beds with used bedsheet & pillowcase. Normally I can only go with 4 to 5 stars hotels, with excellent housekeeping services.

So, people! Can you imagine how suffer I'd be if I travel to National Park? I normally don't take shower if I have to spend over night in National Park's resorts or hotels ... shhhh ... only the cooling weather in National Park allows me to do so!

Cinderella's Stepsister

My previous 2 entries wasn't really pleasant. Preggie should have no vulgarity because baby need not learn vulgarity and become bad temper. I'm cooling down, having great time these 2 days, had good sleeps of course. I chose to close my eyes and shut my mouth! =)

I'm currently watching "Cinderella's Stepsister" (灰姑娘的姐姐) on PPS, 2 chapters ahead of hubby because he's watching it on ASTRO KBS channel with English subtitles, which only shows 2 chapters per week. No doubt, I always love Korean drama but surprisingly the story line of this drama attracts hubby as well. To all the Korean freak out there, you should watch this!
